Lodging

Mad Peak offers vacation rental units with their own secure, private entrances and living spaces. Units are very clean and comfortable places to relax after a
busy day full of activities and adventures. These units are conveniently
located between the popular attractions in the Black Hills!
Each unit is equipped with an A/C unit, outdoor seating, and a propane grill.
A shared fire pit is located in the field near the creek with
split wood available along the driveway.
Each unit has parking for two rigs with loads of extra parking
for haul/towing rigs at the other end of the property.

The Mountain Escape is the biggest and most spacious unit  Includes two king beds, one it its own bedroom, and a queen-size sofa sleeper with vaulted ceilings and a heated hardwood floor. Each of Mad Peak Lodging’s units are completely separate with their own private entrance.

The Depot is a train-themed unit with a king bed and a queen-size sofa sleeper. Even though the last train rounded the bend many years ago, Mad Peak endeavor to bring the spirit of yesteryear back to life with all the modern conveniences. Each of Mad Peak Lodging’s units are completely separate with their own private entrance.

The Hideout is reminiscent of an old west hideout where an outlaw gang might hide after their latest heist. The Hideout has a king bed in the bedroom and a queen-size sofa sleeper in the living room. Each of Mad Peak Lodging’s units are completely separate with their own private entrance.

No old west town is complete without a Mercantile and Mad Peak is no different. Come experience this version of a Mad Peak Lodging’s general store with a king size bed on the first floor and up the ships ladder to the loft to enjoy the full size bed. Each of Mad Peak Lodging units are completely separate with their own private entrance.

Mountain Escape

The Mountain Escape unit has large spacious accommodations to rest and relax in the midst of the beautiful Black Hills. This unit has its own private entrance with no others accessing any of the living areas.

The Mountain Escape offers a quiet, conveniently located place to stay along one of the popular routes to Mt. Rushmore and the southern activities as well as Deadwood and Lead to the north. This unit boasts plenty of sunshine with an abundance of windows and a private, rear deck with a peaceful view of the forest.

 The main area provides seating for at least ten persons with a counter, stools, and dining table with chairs. Extra folding chairs are stored in the closet.  This area combines the kitchen with the dining area and main living-room area.  In this space there is a king bed and the queen-size sofa sleeper.

The full kitchen includes a full-size stove/oven, microwave, dishwasher, and sink as well as basic kitchenware that may be needed to grill, cook, or serve. There are a few basic staples in the cupboards. There is a shared fire pit near the creek for a relaxing campfire, depending on open fire restrictions.

Parking is directly at the base of the stairs to the unit which can accommodate two vehicles.  Additional parking is at the other end of the property.

The Depot

Even though hopping a train is no longer an option, The Depot is a great choice! Stay and enjoy getting away and relaxing at this quiet and cozy location. The trains no longer run near The Depot but the decor will provide a taste of yesteryear in the Black Hills.  All the modern features are enriched with subtle details.

The Depot is a private unit with easy access, built front and center in the western town. It appears as two separate buildings, the primary depot set next to the warehouse of freight. Parking is directly alongside the unit and can accommodate two vehicles with additional parking at the other end of the property for any tow/haul rigs. There is plenty of parking for a small train.

With the warm temps and the westward setting sun, the porch offers a nice place to relax and visit in the shade or enjoy the early rising sun with the wildlife. The Depot at Mad Peak is set up in a studio form that sleeps two in a king bed and two on the queen-size sofa sleeper. There is a shared fire pit near the creek for a relaxing campfire.

The kitchen has a full-size stove/oven, dishwasher, mid-size refrigerator, and sink. There are dishes, pots and pans, silverware and a few basic dry staples on the shelves. The 3/4 bathroom offers a generous
shower and
heated tile floor.

With a taste of train and mining history of the area, The Depot is designed to please.

The Hideout

The Hideout is a perfect get away with a warm, wild west design, whether escaping for a weekend or hiding out from the “Law.” This is a perfect, peaceful place to hang your spurs for a spell.

With the Black Hills National Forest to the rear and a meandering creek at the front, you will enjoy the peace and quiet The Hideout has to offer. There is a shared fire pit near the creek for a relaxing campfire.

The Hideout sleeps two in a king bed in the bedroom and two on the
queen-size
sofa sleeper in the living room. The kitchen boasts a full-size electric stove/oven, dishwasher, mid-size refrigerator, and sink. There is a 3/4 bathroom with a generous shower.

Parking is at the end of the sidewalk at the designated parking spots, with the private entrance to The Hideout at the other end of the sidewalk, just under the light.

With a taste of Outlaws-of-the-Old-West, this unit is
designed to please, with fun decor.

The Merchantile

The Merchantile is the newest lodging unit at Mad Peak. 

The porch with seating offers a quiet place to enjoy the rising sun or the cool of the afternoon shade. There is a shared fire pit near the creek for a relaxing campfire.

The Mercantile has a king bed in the tv viewing area and a full-size bed in the loft above.

The dining/tv viewing area has a table with chairs as well as seating for relaxing. There are board games available, too. The kitchenette offers a hot plate, toaster, brew coffee maker, microwave, sink, mid-size refrigerator, and a  dishwasher. There are dishes, pots and pans, silverware and a few basic dry staples on the shelves. The propane grill is located out the back door. The 3/4 bathroom offers a pocket door with a generous shower. Parking for your stay is at the front of the unit for two rigs with additional parking at the other side of the driveway. 

The Mercantile decor is a delightful mix of items from years gone by.
